Rising Tide Theatre Takes a Look at 2011 with Revue

A new year is upon us again which means it’s time for another satirical look at the year gone by with members of Rising Tide Theatre as they present the 27th production of Revue, which will tour the provincial Arts and Culture Centres (ACC) beginning in St. John’s on Wednesday, January 19.

Donna Butt, Rising Tide’s Artistic Director said 2011 in NL has provided the writing team with plenty of material.

“We thought things would be calm without Danny, but the politicians and the place have not let us down,” Butt said. “There is plenty to have fun with from Moose lights on the highway, Peter MacKay rescued from a fishing lodge to government offices on the move, the rain that didn’t stop all summer, the orange wave and Danny... he never really went away.”

The cast for Revue 2011 includes the stellar and popular cast of Rick Boland, Rory Lambert, Amelia Manuel, Jim Payne, Michael Power, Tina Randell and Berni Stapleton. With a script and costumes as outrageous as ever, Revue 2011 is sure to keep you entertained.

Butt said the past year in the fishery will see West Side Story become Revue’s Fish Side Story. The show will visit the appearance of Kiss in Grand Falls Winsor and there will even be a sealskin fashion show without greenpeacers on the runway.
